Heidenau K80 120/70-17 58H TL
K80 is the sports road model in the Heidenau range — built for riders who move quickly on tarmac and change direction often. The defining quality of Heidenau K80 is a high level of grip combined with strong wear resistance, delivered by a modern elastomer compound technology. The 120/70-17 size, with a load index of 58 (236 kg), is specified by Heidenau for front-axle installation.
Key features
Grip and service life — the defining quality of K80: the modern elastomer compound delivers a high level of grip and wears slowly at the same time.
Quick direction changes: the tyre contour is designed for responsive handling — Heidenau K80 comes into its own through linked corners.
Grip at lean: the shoulder area of the tread is developed separately, so Heidenau K80 maintains grip while leaned over, under both braking and acceleration.
Predictability near the limit: the responses of Heidenau K80 remain predictable for the rider as grip approaches its limit — which is why the model has established itself in supermoto.
Line stability: new materials in the layer beneath the tread keep Heidenau K80 on line through fast corners.
Damping: the tyre construction smooths out small surface irregularities — Heidenau K80 rides more comfortably over broken tarmac than a sports road tyre is usually expected to.
Tread and construction
Heidenau K80 120/70-17 is a bias-ply tyre: the size designation carries neither a B nor an R. It is supplied tubeless (TL), suiting cast wheels and tubeless spoked rims alike. The H speed index permits use up to 210 km/h. The tread pattern is a road design with water-dispersing grooves.
Application
120/70-17 is the standard for mid-size and larger road motorcycles of 400–650 cc: it is often seen on the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Ninja ZX-4RR, Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450, SWM Gran Milano, FB Mondial Piega 452, TM Racing SMR and Sherco 500 SM Factory. The most widely fitted front size in the road segment.
The matching tyre for the other axle is K80 160/60-17. This is the one K80 size whose allround alternative comes from K73 rather than K66: K73 120/70-17. Heidenau K80 carries no M+S marking — for cold-weather use Heidenau produces winter versions of other profiles, collected in the Heidenau winter motorcycle tyres section. The full range is in the Heidenau road motorcycle tyre catalogue.
